Meet the Founders

Alex

Alex "Big Al" Del Vecchio

Co-Founder & CEO

Competitive by nature and always chasing the next challenge, Alex is the kind of person who believes growth starts where comfort ends. Growing up overweight and often picked last, he developed an underdog mentality that never left. At 16 he found the gym and lost 60 pounds in 8 months. That same mindset now fuels everything he does.

For Alex, BAHM isn't just a condiment. It's proof that betting on yourself and putting in the work can turn something small into something real. Whether he's developing new products, meeting customers at events, or building the brand online, the goal has always been the same: create something worth talking about.

When he's not working on BAHM, Alex is finishing up his degree at the University of Tennessee Knoxville studying business management with concentrations in entrepreneurship and marketing.

Favorite thing to put BAHM on? Mac and cheese. Seriously. Try it before you judge it.

RIchard

RIchard "Dick" Heveron

Co-Founder & CFO

The loudest guy in the room, the first one to make you laugh, and somehow also the voice of reason. After years in the corporate 9-5 world, Richard always felt the itch to build something of his own. When Alex brought up BAHM, his answer was simple: "Why not?"

Having watched Alex grow from a kid selling mustard to building a real business, Richard believed in the vision from day one. He keeps BAHM grounded, bringing financial discipline and a steady perspective while turning big ideas into real plans.

Outside of BAHM he's a husband, father of two, a golfer who will absolutely 3-putt and have a great time doing it, and someone who takes his lawn more seriously than most people take their jobs.

Favorite thing to put BAHM on? Bacon, egg, and cheese. The man has taste.

Rich and Big Al at Lake Anna

Big Al’s Hot Mustard is a family-founded sauce company built on bold flavor, entrepreneurial spirit, and the belief that healthy food should never be boring. It all started back in 2014, when 9-year-old Alex “Big Al” Del Vecchio set out to earn money for a Denver Broncos game. His parents agreed, if he could fund the trip himself.

Using a hot mustard recipe passed down from his mom, Beth, Alex began selling jars at local farmers markets in Northeast Iowa. The product, originally known as Alex’s Hot Mustard, quickly became a hit. Not only did he make it to the game, but he laid the foundation for a growing brand.

After selling thousands of jars, life paused the business for a few years, until 2025, when Alex teamed up with his older brother, Richard “Dick” Heveron, to rebrand and relaunch as Big Al’s Hot Mustard. With a fresh look and an expanded lineup, the brothers are taking the mustard game to the next level.

DH Industries is committed to making low-calorie, high-flavor sauces that taste great on everything. From the original hot mustard to new creations like Big B’s Gluten-Free Hot Mustard (honoring their mom), and Big D’s Sweet Heat (named after Dick), every jar is packed with purpose.

Whether you’re a health-conscious foodie or just love bold, crave-worthy flavor, DH Industries invites you to Get Lost in the Sauce.
